week 3

The first thing I did for this week was trying to solve the problem with my microphone. Since I couldn't fix the problem on my laptop I decided to get a pair of headphones with an integrated microphone. After that I watched some you tube tutorials about SL. One video was really helpful, the person in there showed what could cause the sound troubles and how to fix it. After I did everything I saw in that tutorial, the person also suggested to visit a location called 'Echo Canyon', because people can't hear their own voice while talking over the microphone, but in this location people can, so by visiting this place I was able to hear my voice in the game the way other people in the game would hear my voice. Thanks to that, I was able to adjust the volume, and I was definitely sure that my microphone is working now.

This week we got a new brief, a group project. The brief is called #METOO. The hashtag METOO was created after an American film producer named Harvey Weinstein was accused of having sexually harassed over 80 women in the movie industry. By using the #METOO women were sharing their own stories of sexual harassment on social media. 
Before the class started I met my group online, and we briefly discussed the subject and shared some articles we read online.

I found jamie's article quite interesting because it shared a man's point of view on the subject. We set up a face book chat a as well, but the groups were changed again because  students from America joined the virtual environment class. During this weeks class we had  guest lectures named Sitearm giving us a presentation about how to work as a team. He gave a lot of useful advise on how to communicate with people in a group, and how to deal with people that are hard to work with. I find it difficult to only communicate with people online, without talking face to face, since it is hard to figure out what kind of people I'm working with. It is also difficult to stay in contact for me with other people if it is only by using online chats, because I don't use social media a lot.
